Hello!

I'm Samy, the artist behind Habibito NYC. I'm a New York City-based hair and makeup artist, professional actor, community organizer, and Sister of Perpetual Indulgence (Sister Vesper of the Heart!) of 10+ years.

I named my business after the nickname my husband, Eddie, gave me; it’s an affectionate blend of the Arabic "Habibi" (my love) and the Spanish diminutive "-ito," a perfect nod to my mixed Lebanese and Puerto Rican heritage.

I'm a graduate of The Makeup Academy NYC's Master Makeup Artistry program, trained in airbrushing and hairstyling. Prior to that, I’d acquired over a decade’s worth of experience in drag and theatrical hair/makeup. My work has taken me from designing looks for Off-Broadway productions and Fashion Week runways to the one-on-one, empowering space of helping people get ready for a portrait or special occasion.

While I gravitate towards the bold, character-driven looks of the stage and editorial projects, I’m a rigorously trained artist who loves the entire spectrum: from "no-makeup" makeup and soft glam to elegant bridal beauty. I've also made it a mission to focus on mature skin, textured hair, and the gorgeous, nuanced spectrum of melanated skin tones. Everyone deserves to feel seen, understood, and celebrated.

This is my philosophy: I don't believe makeup exists to "fix" you. Your natural beauty is my starting point, and when you sit in my chair, we enter a collaboration. My job is to listen and use my expertise to bring out the version of yourself you want to show the world, whether that's the confident actor nailing a headshot, the radiant partner on their wedding day, or the diva looking to turn heads at a special event. I want to leave feeling pampered, special, affirmed, and utterly joyful.

Just like clothing, accessories, and even mannerisms, hair and makeup are a vocabulary for us to express our personalities. I can't wait to help you express yours.
