Hello!

I'm Samy, the artist behind Habibito NYC. I'm a New York City-based hair and makeup artist, professional actor, community organizer, and Sister of Perpetual Indulgence (Sister Vesper of the Heart!) of 10+ years.

I named my business after the nickname my husband, Eddie, gave me; it’s an affectionate blend of the Arabic "Habibi" (my love) and the Spanish diminutive "-ito," a nod to my mixed Lebanese and Puerto Rican heritage.

I'm a graduate of The Makeup Academy NYC's Master Makeup Artistry program. Prior to that, I’d acquired over a decade’s worth of experience primarily in drag and theatrical hair/makeup. My work has taken me from designing looks for Off-Broadway productions and Fashion Week runways to the one-on-one clients for a portrait or special occasion.

I’m a rigorously trained artist who loves the entire spectrum: from "no-makeup" makeup and soft glam to elegant bridal beauty, all the way to the bold looks of editorial and theatrical productions. I've also made it a mission to focus on mature skin, textured hair, and the whole spectrum of melanated skin tones.

I don't believe makeup exists to "fix" us. Just like clothing, accessories, and even mannerisms, hair and makeup are a vocabulary for us to express our personalities. I can't wait to help you express yours.
